(CNN) -- If you're looking for a holiday gift for the person who has everything, the gift of travel may be the answer.
"You don't have to worry that they're already going to have it. Everybody has a trip they have yet to take," said Nathan Lump, a spokesman for Condé Nast Traveler.
The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) said travel gifts top most people's holiday wish lists.
Cruises are the first choice, followed by gift certificates, trips to Las Vegas and Disney, weekend getaways, airline tickets and hotel packages, according to ASTA.
"You can do something in about every price range," said Ed Perkins, an ASTA spokesman. "You can buy a $10,000 cruise all the way down to a $10 gadget in a travel store."
You may want to consider golf trips or ski adventures for those inclined toward those activities -- but a gift certificate may be the best present.
"People can then use it at their convenience, ultimately, and to go where they want to go," Lump said.
Many airlines, hotels and cruise lines offer gift certificates and you can get them from travel agents for complete vacation packages.
Shoppers should remember that most certificates expire within a year and that blackout dates may apply. In addition, trips taken with certificates won't earn the recipient frequent flyer miles.
But you might earn airline miles or hotel points when you purchase the certificate, giving yourself a little gift in the process.
