TWA, Southwest offer airfare deals
(CNN) -- Notable airfare bargains this week include offers from TWA and Southwest Airlines. TWA announced discounted fares of up to 50 percent on many U.S. flights. Travelers must buy tickets by October 23 and fly by February 10. In addition, Southwest has brought back its popular "Friends Fly Free" campaign, which allows flyers to get a free companion fare when buying a full fare ticket. Those tickets must be purchased by December 10, and travelers must fly by April 3.
Survey finds travelers still wary of booking online
(CNN) -- Although many travelers are leery of booking online, many believe the Internet is a good place to find airfare deals. Use of the Internet for researching flight information has increased 20 percent in the last year, according to a survey by the International Air Transport Association. While many travelers still shy away from actually booking online, 38 percent of those surveyed said they believe the Web offers competitive fares. The survey also found that some business travelers are giving discount airlines more consideration -- especially employees of smaller companies who are not frequent flyers. Seventy percent of North American business travelers surveyed said they are willing to use low-fare airlines.
