(CNN) -- The U.S. State Department on Wednesday advised Americans, particularly of African and Asian heritage, to be cautious in Ukraine, where recent attacks on African Americans have occurred in areas where groups that have targeted Asians and Africans in the past have gathered.
"Persons of African or Asian heritage, including American citizens, are also subject to frequent stops and searches by local law enforcement," the announcement continued. "There are several credible reports that such incidents have led to harassment and physical abuse."
And while the situation has improved somewhat in Indonesia, the State Department still advises that Americans defer travel to that country.
