JONESBOROUGH, Tennessee (CNN) -- Twenty-five years ago in northeastern Tennessee, the art of storytelling began a renaissance. Now, every October brings thousands of people to the town of Jonesborough for a weekend of anecdotes, chronicles, narratives and tall tales. Enthusiasm for the festival is so great, it has spawned similar events throughout the United States and the world.
This year's Jonesborough Storytelling Festival in early October featured more than 35 tellers and drew more than 10,000 visitors. CNN videographer Roger Herr was there, and brought back his own story ... in pictures and sound.
