(CNN) -- A higher power than Ma Bell and Uncle Sam may be helping shepherd your on-the-road calls and vacation post cards to their destinations.
Monday marks the feast of Saint Gabriel the Archangel, whom Pope Pius XII dubbed the patron saint of telecommunications in 1951. Saint Gabriel's powers are said to extend to postal and telegraph workers. (Folks using car phones might do well to give Gabe a nod, just in case.)
The media relations department of the Postmaster General's Office in Washington, DC says it has not heard of Saint Gabriel's patronage, but that "it's a good thing to know." Certainly, some free extra help couldn't hurt.
