(CNN) -- Britain celebrates off-shoots of its imperial roots on the second Monday in March, on Commonwealth Day. The queen of England hosts a multi-faith ceremony at Westminster Abbey for representatives of the more than 50 Commonwealth countries. The service is recreated in the cathedrals, temples, mosques and churches of the member nations.
The Commonwealth is an association of self-governing,
autonomous states loosely associated with the British crown.
