The dawn of the PC

The Computer Museum in Boston is unveiling relics this week of ancient history -- circa 1970. Beginning June 14, it recreates the early days of the personal computer, with a lifesize reconstruction of a hacker's garage, including an Apple I and Altair 8800 and, of course, the game Pong. A salute to high-flying women

In Washington, D.C., the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum is saluting women flyers. An exhibit opens this week featuring 75 photographs of women involved in aviation and space exploration, from a skywriter for Pepsi-Cola to an 86-year-old who continues to fly airplanes and helicopters. A Super celebration in Metropolis

Super DogThe Man of Steel is making his appearance in Metropolis, Illinois this week. The town's three-day Superman Celebration takes off on Thursday, June 12. The festival features a comics show, a staged Superman drama, and contests for Supergirls, Superboys and even Superdogs -- as well as "mere mortal" activities such as a bluegrass concert, a classic car show, and a bike race. Jammin' in Birmingham

An estimated 265,000 music-lovers are converging on Birmingham, Alabama this weekend for red-hot jazz, rock, country and blues.
