(CNN) -- To most of the world, South Africa's first and most enduring impression is political. For decades, enforced and officially sanctioned segregation -- and the fight against it -- dominated world perception of this nation.

CNN's Kalin Thomas-Samuel spent three weeks exploring this emerging destination. In Part 2 of our South Africa special, learn about the nation's culture -- from the hard realities of life in Soweto to a mock tribal village and the glitz of touristy Sun City.
