A beach vacation spent in the buff might be an off-putting idea for some, but The Naturist Society believes it's an essential part of life. Judi Ditzler, the communications director of the society that publishes "The World Guide to Nude Beaches and Resorts," picks her favorite spots for beaching it sans swimsuit:
In the United States, it's Bonny Doon Beach in Santa Cruz, California:
"It's a really nice, quiet beach. It's got great views of the ocean. It's too cold for swimming but it's very nice."
She also likes Haulover Beach in North Miami, Florida:
"Haulover Beach is a great urban beach." It's name also has an interesting origin: "Back in Prohibition days, rumrunners would use the beach, because it was relatively secluded at the time, to haul their stash," she says.
On other shores, Ditzler likes Orient Beach on Saint Martin:
"The water is beautiful and it's totally temperate all the time. People are very friendly but they leave you alone. They're all completely used to the nude beach thing. Nobody is staring and they're very relaxed. It's a largely European clientele."Related Resources:
