U.S. Supreme Court
After 146 years in various rooms of the Capitol building, the Supreme Court finally found a permanent home of its own across the street in 1935. Its charge of "Equal Justice Under Law" is emblazoned above its 16 marble columns, and two figures are prominently seated on either side of the front stairway. The left female figure is the Contemplation of Justice, while the right male figure stands for the Guardian or Authority of Law.
