Smithsonian Institution Building
Because of its red towers and spires, the Institution's first building (1855) is commonly known as the Castle. Today, the building houses the Smithsonian Institution information center with two orientation theaters, administrative offices and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. Interactive touch screens, electronic maps and scale models of Washington attractions help visitors begin their exploration through history, art, culture and science.
