National Air and Space Museum
The most visited museum in the world attracted 8.4 million people in 1995 to its galleries of airplanes, spacecraft, rockets and other aviation artifacts. Opened in July 1976, this huge collection of historic aircraft includes the Wright Flyer, the Spirit of St. Louis, the Skylab4 Command Module, lunar exploration vehicles and a planetarium. A five-story IMAX screen shows special films such as "Cosmic Voyage" and "Mission to Mir."
