Hillbillys

I hide my past a lot these days ... rarely admit to once holding a passion for a type of racing that really began with bootleggers smuggling moonshine on dark Southern roads before moving on to sand-spraying, competitive spins on beaches in Florida and elsewhere. But the popularity of stock car racing is on the rise -- stock car drivers wind up on cereal boxes regularly nowadays. Their cars are sponsored as often by Mello Yello and Kellogg's as by Valvoline and STP.

There's plenty of folks out there who live for their love of racing. And they follow the sport in any way they can -- radio, television, newspapers, magazines -- and especially getting out to the track to experience the sights, sounds and smells firsthand.
