Wines and Inns
Elvis IS everywhere -- from a 10-by-20-foot mural on an Arkansas River levee in Pueblo, Colorado, to thousands and thousands of velvet paintings on street corners in nearly every town in the United States.
Seek, and you shall find.
Toast the King with Graceland wines at dinner. Grandview Cellars in St. Helena, California produces a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Chardonnay, officially licensed by Presley's estate. Grandview also offers Graceland Cabernet Chocolate Truffles.
Visit the spot where Elvis played his last concert -- June 26, 1977 at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana. The arena, home to the Indiana Pacers NBA team and the Indiana Ice minor league hockey team, has a small display case of Elvis memorabilia.
Ice games in the fall and winter months feature the King Team
-- three guys dressed as Elvis who keep the crowds
entertained during breaks in the action.
Elvis lives (in spirit, at least) in a museum in Ringkobing, Denmark, and music rooms across America. One collector, rare manuscript dealer John Reznikoff, reportedly has a lock of his hair tucked away in a bank vault.
Fan clubs dot the planet from Australia to Great Britain and nearly everywhere in between.
An Elvis impersonator in Deurne, Netherlands, says Presley's ghost inhabits him while he sings -- and that his statue of the King has begun to shed tears "for his fans." Visitors -- and television crews -- have been flocking to see the weeping bust.
Elvis lives even in the Middle East, where Uri Yoeli serves
up baba ganoush and Elvis memorabilia at the Elvis Inn. At the parking lot, a large white statue of the King presides over spectacular sunsets. The Inn sits in the village Abu Ghosh on the road connecting Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
Of course ... all this searching out of Elvis may be
unnecessary. Some say the King still lives -- and you could be the one to spot him next.
