The Old Post Office Restaurant
A once-popular meeting place for Edistonians, the Old Post Office, was reborn in 1988 when the building was restored as a restaurant (called, not surprisingly, The Old Post Office Restaurant) that delivers some of the finest southern cuisine made. Proprietors Philip Bardin and David Gressette knew each other briefly as children. By chance, 20 years later, they met again at Edisto Beach, began discussing childhood memories of wonderful Southern food, and decided to open a restaurant together.
The Old Post Office Restaurant serves Lowcountry specialties from "Fussed Over Pork Chops" to honest-to-goodness
grits, cooked all day long. Gressette personally selects the fresh seafood and produce for the restaurant, often gathering it himself.
Main courses average around $18, and the restaurant has an extensive and reasonably priced wine list.
The chocolate caramel fudge pecan cake is a must. Ask your server to add fresh local strawberries!
