While waiting for subsequent fittings, customers can browse Sam's wall of pictures of his celebrity visitors. He takes their fame in stride.
"I treat everybody equal -- as long as somebody is spending one dollar in my shop, I have to treat him the same," he says. "It doesn't matter if he's a king, queen or royal family -- it doesn't mean anything."
Sam says customer satisfaction is what counts.
"I like to meet a lot of customers; I like to make them happy. Once they're happy with their clothes, it makes me very happy," Melwani says. "When they're satisfied, I feel I did something in this world to make people happy."
Sam's suits cost anywhere from a few hundred dollars (U.S.) to several thousand dollars, for clients with deeper pockets. His shop is located in Kowloon on Burlington Arcade off Nathan Street.
