Wrigleyville's Asian flavor

There's a wonderful Asian presence on the 3300 block of Clark. Thai Classic, at 3332 N. Clark, lures people off the street with aromas of lemon-grass and curry. Traditional dishes such as Mee Krob and Pad Thai delight the palate.

Sam Mee serves up excellent Korean food a block north. Bibim Bop is tasty and loads of fun to eat. You're encouraged to help create the traditional Korean dish by mixing rice, meat, vegetables and egg in a large bowl. Don't be startled if your table rattles a bit -- the El crosses over Clark here.

Pancake house

If you've got a yen for Japanese food, head north about two blocks to Matsuya. Sashimi and sushi rolls are beautifully prepared and deliciously fresh. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the price is right.

There's more than food to Wrigleyville's Asian flavor; Aiko's Art Materials is located across the street from Thai Classic. Here you can find hundreds of sheets of beautiful Japanese rice paper, as well as pottery and prints.

If you're interested in tapping your own artistic talents, check out the store's huge selection of calligraphy pens and oriental paint brushes. Aiko's also has a vast selection of how-to books. Topics range from making origami boxes to the art of bookbinding.
