There's been an inn sitting gracefully on Woodstock, Vermont's village green for 200 years. The historic Woodstock Resort & Inn still looks much as it did when it was built in 1793. The spirit of New England is embodied in the lobby's floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace and massive wood-beam mantel.

The property, owned by the Rockefeller Family, was recently renovated and now includes an indoor sports complex, featuring a swimming pool, tennis courts and aerobics classes.

Lucky visitors may get to see a fresh snowfall during their stay. The nearby hills offer guests challenging cross-country and alpine skiing, as well as snow-shoeing through the pristine countryside.
