Aired June 27, 2003 - 19:05   ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

ANDERSON COOPER, ANCHOR: Moving onto our other big story, the continuing violence against coalition forces in Iraq. Now could it force in change in military strategy? That is the question.
Another U.S. soldier was shot today, hit from behind on a Baghdad street. Senior international correspondent Nic Robertson is inside of Iraq with more on what is going on there now.

Nic, what's the latest?

NIC ROBERTSON, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Anderson, according to witnesses at that particular shooting, three soldiers stopped by a DVD store set up on the road of the busy Baghdad market. One soldier got out. As he got his money out of his pocket to buy a DVD, a lone gunman approached him, shot him in the head.

Officials here say that he was shot in the face and not saying the state of his injuries at this time.

They have confirmed, as well, today that an investigation into the disappearance of two U.S. soldiers is continuing, a search by air, a search on the ground. They say that they have arrested six Iraqi suspects in the case so far. Not saying if they've got any key information out of these suspects.

The U.S. officials, as well, confirm another death of a U.S. soldier. That was Thursday in a town about two hours' drive south of Baghdad, Najaf. In that particular incident, the soldiers appeared to have been lured to their death by the call about car theft. The soldiers, who were military policemen, went out to investigate. As they got closer to the area, apparently bandits engaged them in fire. One of the soldiers was killed.

Two missing, being investigated, one soldier dead, another shot in the head this day -- Anderson.

COOPER: All right, sad day. Nic Robertson, thanks very much for the report from Baghdad.
