CNN LIVE AT DAYBREAK

Eye on the Sky: Air Travel Delays

Aired February 28, 2003 - 06:46   ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: The weather outside is frightening, which means that trek to the airport is kind of scary this morning. Actually, it's not too bad.
Travelocity's expert is here, Rally Caparas.

So tell us, it's not that bad.

RALLY CAPARAS, AIR TRAFFIC SPECIALIST, TRAVELOCITY.COM: Carol, it's not that bad. It's not as bad as what we've seen over the last few days. The eastern seaboard has been getting pounded by the same system, it looks like it's on its way out to sea. We're going to see some delays early.

New York Metros and Philly, 30 to 45-minute arrival and departure delays are likely as that system still is trying to push off shore. It should be gone by the afternoon and evening -- good news.

D.C. Metros, the worst of it is basically over when it comes to delays. Thirty-minute arrival delays in the morning, but by noon or so we should see those delays diminish and be gone before the evening rush.

Atlanta Hartsfield, under the clouds still, low clouds and fog, expect 30 to 45-minute arrival delays throughout the day into the evening.

The rest of the country looking fantastic. A great weekend for travel overall.

Carol, I'll see you on Monday.

COSTELLO: OK, will do. Rally Caparas, many thanks.
