Golden Globe Nominations

PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: Let's turn to Dick Clark who will run through some of the nominations for the best actor in a television series and then we'll hear a bunch of movie nominations as well.
We await with baited breath.

DICK CLARK, PRODUCER, GOLDEN GLOBES TELECAST: Good morning.

And welcome to the nomination announcements for the 60th Annual Golden Globe Awards.

Before we get to our nominations, the president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Dagmar Dunlevy, has a couple of brief, but important announcements -- Dagmar.

DAGMAR DUNLEVY, PRESIDENT, HOLLYWOOD FOREIGN PRESS ASSN.: Thank you, Dick.

This year's event will take place on Sunday, January 19th, with the arrival at 7:00, followed by the awards ceremony at 8:00. As announced earlier, our board of directors has chosen an actor's actor as this year' recipient of the award, Mr. Gene Hackman.

CLARK: Now, to announce this year's nominations, we have a very talented trio of stars, Noah Wiley, Rachel Griffiths and Colin Ferrell.

NOAH WILEY, ACTOR: The nominees for best performance by an actress in a television series drama, Edie Falco of "The Sopranos," Jennifer Garner, "Alias," and Rachel Griffiths, "Six Feet Under," Marg Helgenberger, "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and Allison Janney of "The West Wing."

The nominees for best performance by an actor in a television series, musical or comedy, Larry David, "Curb Your Enthusiasm," Matt Leblanc, "Friends," Bernie Mac, "The Bernie Mac Show," Eric McCormack, "Will and Grace," and Tony Shalhaub from "Monk."

The nominees for best performance by an actress in a television series, musical, or comedy, Jennifer Aniston, "Friends." Bonnie Hunt, "Life with Bonnie," Jane Kaczmarek, "Malcolm in the Middle," Deborah Messing, "Will and Grace" and Sarah Jessica Parker, "Sex in the City."

The nominees for best television series musical or comedy: "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Friends," "Sex in the City," "The Simpsons," and "Will and Grace." The nominees for best performance by an actor in a motion picture, musical or comedy, Nicolas Cage, "Adaption, Kieran Caulkin, "Igby Goes Down," Richard Gere, "Chicago," Hugh Grant, "About a Boy," and Adam Sandler for "Punch Drunk Love."

The nominees for best performance by an actress in a motion picture, musical or comedy, Maggie Gyllenhaal, "Secretary," and Goldie Hawn, "The Banger Sisters," Nia Vardalos, "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," Renee Zelwegger, "Chicago," and Catherine Zeta Jones, "Chicago."

The nominees for best performance by an actor in a television series, Larry David, "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

And the nominees for best motion picture, musical or comedy, "About a Boy," "Adaptation," "Chicago," My Big Fat Greek Wedding" and "Nicholas Nickleby."

COLIN FERRELL, ACTOR: The nominees for best director motion pictures, Stephen Daldry, "The Hours," Peter Jackson, "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers." I know who you voted for Annie. Spike Jones, "Adaptation," Rob Marshall, "Chicago," Alexander Payne, "About Schmidt" and -- I'm not so sure now -- and Martin Scorcese, "Gangs of New York."

The nominees for best performance by an actor in a motion picture drama, Adrien Brody "The Pianist" -- that's "Pianist."

Michael Caine, "The Quiet American, Daniel Day Lewis, "Gangs of New York," Leonardo Dicaprio, "Catch Me if You Can," and Jack Nicholson, "About Schmidt."

The nominees for best performance by an actress in a motion picture drama, Salma Hayek, "Frida," Nicole Kidman, "The Hours," Diane Lane, "Unfaithful," Julianne Moore, "Far From Heaven," and Meryl Streep, "The Hours." And nominees for best motion picture drama, "About Schmidt." "Gangs of New York," "The Hours," "The Lord of The Rings: The Two Hours," and "The Pianist."

ZAHN: Yes, you know that 4:00 a.m. wake-up call caught up with Colin Ferrell, when he was talking about Adrien Brody. No major surprises. We were listening because of the AOL-Time Warner connection to see what "The Lord of the Rings," the second installment might get, and it did get an Oscar nomination -- Oscar. What was it just we were just covering the Golden Globes nomination for the best motion picture drama.

BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Hearing a lot of good things about "Chicago," hearing a lot of good things about the movie "Gangs of New York" as well.

And remember "The Sopranos," remember a couple of weeks ago, everybody was touting Edie Falco's for her performance in that final performance. So we shall see. And a fan of "American Morning," by the way.
