'Talk of CNN'

Aired November 20, 2002 - 06:51   ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: There are a couple of stories out there we talk about with our friends in Minnesota. We've been talking about it with the whole nation, actually, this morning.
We want to check in, though, with the Dave Ryan and The Morning Show, 101.3 KDWB Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Hello, there.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Hello.

DAVE RYAN, KDWB RADIO TALK SHOW HOST: I'm sorry, you caught me in the middle of dangling Angie off of a balcony.

ANGIE: Hey!

RYAN: I'm really sorry.

ANGIE: OK!

RYAN: I usually get a...

MYERS: Is there a towel over her head?

COSTELLO: Yes, do you have her face covered?

RYAN: Well, I didn't want people to know who she was, so...

ANGIE: Yes, my face should be covered.

RYAN: So I've got her covered here and she's fine, don't worry about it. I've got her with my good arm.

COSTELLO: Of course, we're saying all of these things because of what Michael Jackson did in Germany when he dangled his baby over the balcony four stories up. It was just a bizarre sight to see.

ANGIE: Carol, I was saying to Dave earlier isn't there some way like child protection can go and investigate now because here we have on tape him actually endangering his child?

COSTELLO: Well, maybe, but, you know...

ANGIE: You would think.

COSTELLO: Nothing happened to the kid really. It was just a second and... ANGIE: I know, but...

COSTELLO: I don't know, I'm standing up for Michael Jackson.

RYAN: Now, here's what we're going to do. Carol, all four of us, we're going to go over to Berlin. We're going to perform an intervention, OK? And we're going to find Michael and we're going to perform an intervention and take him wherever you take people like Michael. I don't know...

COSTELLO: Yes, where do you take him?

RYAN: To the Berlin Zoo. I have no idea.

COSTELLO: Oh, it was just bizarre.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It is.

COSTELLO: Let's talk about something else bizarre, shall we, because there's a new ABC show coming out and it's called "Are You Hot?"

RYAN: Yes. And another reality TV show and actually I was disqualified because I went to apply and they said you are too hot.

COSTELLO: Too hot.

ANGIE: Way too hot.

RYAN: So I'm not able to. You know what, Angie? You ought to do that.

ANGIE: I'm not going to do it.

RYAN: Angie's way, way, Angie's way too beautiful. She should be on TV. She's way too beautiful to be on the radio.

ANGIE: Oh, come on.

RYAN: She should go do this.

COSTELLO: I see her picture up there. She is quite lovely.

ANGIE: No.

COSTELLO: But the premise of this show is to find the hottest person in America.

RYAN: Yes, that's right.

ANGIE: Really? I think he already exists and his name is Brad Pitt.

COSTELLO: Oh, yes. Exactly.

ANGIE: We needn't look further. COSTELLO: How much money do you win if you are, indeed, the hottest person in America?

RYAN: All I know is that somebody from ABC says you don't have to be talented to be on this show, you don't have to sing, you don't have to dance, you don't have to do anything except think you're hot. And I think that's where it's going to get interesting, Carol, is because we're going to find people who, much like "American Idol," think they can sing but when they really get on there you realize they can't. And I think we're going to find people who think they're hot.

We have a term for it. We call it grot (ph), which means half gross, half hot.

COSTELLO: I love that.

Thank you, guys. It was a lot of fun. We appreciate it.

RYAN: Thank you, guys.

ANGIE: Thanks, Carol.
