DAYO: Gorland Nunn found the bomb while collecting his mail. He says it was in a clear sealed bag.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It was a pipe about six inches long with caps on both ends and there was a nine-volt battery witness.

DAYO: Nunn called investigate, a Nebraska state bomb technician detonated the device inside the mail box.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Very dangerous, very deadly.

DAYO: Investigators searched the area for evidence. They use a metal detector to try to locate fragments of the pipe.

People in nearby Davenport, Nebraska say they are not used to all this commotion. UNIDENTIFIED MALE: A pipe bomb in Davenport. Kind of unusual, you know.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Just upsets everybody that it happens out here in this rural Nebraska town.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The rural community usually things are pretty quiet out here. But don't seem to be today.

DAYO: Gorland Nunn will need to buy a new mail box. He says he is thankful that is the only thing that was destroyed.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: If they hit you in the face it could be pretty severe. Fortunately, something didn't work right, I guess.
