DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Want to let you know about a breaking news story we have on Long Island, and that is the case of a shooting at a Roman Catholic church. We are getting word from "Associated Press," and these pictures from our affiliate WABC. A shooting at Lynbrook, Long Island. It has left one person dead. That is according to Nassau County Police, according to "The Associated Press."

Also, we're hearing that two people were shot. It took place some time after 9:00 a.m. Eastern this morning at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Lynbrook, Long Island. No other information is available.

Right now, we are working on getting someone on the phone from Nassau County Police to tell us more about what might happen. Again, we are getting these live pictures from WABC. But from the wire services, the most information that we have, one person dead, another person shot. No information so far on whether or not someone is in custody.

Let's good to the phones right now. We have Michael Aronsen from Nassua County Police on the phone with us.

Mr. Aronsen, good morning.

MICHAEL ARONSEN, NASSUA COUNTY POLICE: Good morning.

KAGAN: Can you tell us what's happened at this church, Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Lynbrook?

ARONSEN: Yes.

KAGAN: What has happened?

ARONSEN: Unconfirmed reports there has been a shooting there and there are two victims inside a church.

KAGAN: We are seeing from wire services that one of those victims has been killed.

ARONSEN: It appears that there is a fatality at the church. We are waiting here for investigating officers at the scene to get back. But it appears that way, that there is a fatality at the church.

KAGAN: What about the shooter? Is the shooter in custody?

ARONSEN: That investigation is ongoing right now, and police are at the scene. I have no information on that at the moment, though.

KAGAN: Sounds like we are a little limited on information. We will work on talking to (UNINTELLIGIBLE) folks and know a little bit more about what is taking place there.

Once again, the church, as far as we know, from the wire services, Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Lynbrook, Long Island, report saying one person dead, another person wounded.
