KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: An update on anthrax in the United States and now overseas. Six people have been infected with anthrax. The cases are in Florida and New York. And New Jersey's acting governor says a postal worker there has tested positive for skin anthrax. A package mailed from Atlanta, Georgia to Kenya has tested positive for anthrax spores. Health officials in Nairobi are testing two other suspicious letters for anthrax.

Back in the U.S. -- excuse me -- passengers from a Northwest Airlines flight are being told to take antibiotics as a precaution against anthrax. Investigators are testing a powdery substance found on Monday's flight from Detroit to Vermont, but they still don't know what the powder is.

And in South America, a letter mailed from the U.S. to Argentina is being tested for anthrax spores. The results of those tests should be available later today.

LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: Well the latest case of infection was discovered in an employee of CBS News. The woman is an assistant to anchorman Dan Rather, and she's being treated right now for skin anthrax. Rather says he's taking this case very seriously.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

DAN RATHER, CBS NEWS: This is particularly awkward and uncomfortable because it's so serious. And not to put too fine a point on it, but this young woman became a part of a target for an assassin. It doesn't get much more serious than that.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HARRIS: New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani says no contaminated letters have been found at CBS so it's not yet clear just how the woman might have contracted the skin anthrax.
