THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.
CAROL LIN, CNN ANCHOR: The last two Texas escapees are in custody. Patrick Murphy and Donald Newbury surrendered about two hours ago in Colorado Springs, Colorado after an all-night standoff with police.
CNN's Frank Buckley has an update for us now.
FRANK BUCKLEY, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hey, Carol.
The negotiations began around 10:00 last night local time here. When police discovered these two fugitives inside the room at the Holiday Inn, they began a phone negotiation with the fugitives. At some point, the fugitives asked to be interviewed by a local television station. The police decided to granted them request, requested Eric Singer, the anchor at KKTV, to come by. And he, in fact, conducted the interview.
The interviews began at 3:29 a.m. Eastern -- or local time. Each fugitive agreed to speak for only five minutes. There was actually a time keeper who kept time. After one spoke, Murphy; after Murphy spoke, then Newbury got on the phone and spoke to the anchorman.
Shortly thereafter, and they both complained about the Texas prison system; shortly thereafter, they both removed their shirts, came outside and were arrested without incident -- Carol.
LIN: All right, thank you very much, Frank.
