Driver of Tanker Truck Near Fort Worth Escapes Explosion Unharmed

Aired October 24, 2000 - 10:18 a.m. ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: We want to bring you these latest pictures, these live pictures coming to us from Fort Worth, Texas, from our affiliate WFAA. Give you the latest on the tanker fire, as you can see, it's just the end of the tanker fire and what was left of the tanker. This was carrying thousands of gallons of propane fuel when it exploded earlier today on this on-ramp to a Fort Worth freeway.

However, good news, here: As it turns out, there are no homes burning. There were earlier reports that maybe some nearby homes had caught on fire. That is not happening. Also, we understand now, according to the Associated Press, the driver of the truck was able to escape before the truck burst into complete flames.

So, good news there. It looks like everyone got out OK and no homes burning in Fort Worth.
