Bodies of Seven More Sailors Recovered From USS Cole

Aired October 17, 2000 - 10:47 a.m. ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: We have breaking news now out of Yemen. Divers have recovered seven more bodies on board the USS Cole. That would bring the total now to 14 bodies. A total -- the Navy says a total of 17 sailors were killed in that blast on Thursday. So the work will go on both to recover the additional bodies; also to get the USS Cole repaired and in good enough shape to get back here to the U.S., which the Navy is now saying could take some weeks.
