Wen Ho Lee Pleads Guilty in Plea Bargain

Aired September 13, 2000 - 2:44 p.m. ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

LOU WATERS, CNN ANCHOR: A development now in the Wen Ho Lee case. The nuclear scientist has left the federal courthouse in Albuquerque where he, just a few minutes ago, struck a plea deal with prosecutors, a plea bargain that was at least partly in exchange for reduced charges, that Dr. Lee could walk away a free man, having been sentenced to nine months he's already served in jail.

Dr. Lee has left. Reporters have gathered outside the courthouse hoping to hear from Dr. Lee. They apparently will not. Prosecutors and defense attorneys are expected to speak with reporters. When that happens, we'll bring that to you live.
