| Breaking NewsIndiana University Investigating 'Serious Allegation' Involving Bobby KnightAired September 8, 2000 - 1:18 p.m. ETTHIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED. LOU WATERS, CNN ANCHOR: We have a developing story concerning Indiana University basketball coach Bobby Knight. We are in touch with Christopher Simpson, who's the vice president of public affairs of the university. He says -- and we're going to quote him here -- "a serious allegation has been raised. We have a police investigation under way. We're taking this extremely seriously. And because the police investigation is under way, I'm not at liberty to comment further." You know as much as we know, except for the fact that we've been told it's something outside of the university, some sort of confrontation involving Bobby Knight and some unnamed person or group. You'll recall that earlier this year, university officials announced they would monitor Bobby Knight's behavior closely in light of allegations he had been abusive to some of his basketball players. They announced they would have a zero-tolerance policy with Knight. So we'll have to keep track of what's happening at Indiana University. As soon as we know more, we'll pass it right along to you.
