MERRITT ISLAND, Florida (CNN) -- As John Glenn's return to orbit aboard space shuttle Discovery approaches, public excitement is growing steadily.
Glenn has captured the world's imagination, and millions of people are fascinated by his second liftoff.
The Florida tourism industry is also getting a "liftoff" from Thursday's launch. T-shirt sales and hotel bookings have skyrocketed.
