(Washington)
-- When Senator John Glenn blasts into space aboard the shuttle Discovery
in October, he may take along a small piece of the plane the Wright
Brothers flew at Kitty Hawk in 1903.
A group of Dayton, Ohio, community leaders visiting Washington yesterday
presented Glenn with a swatch of fabric from the world's first flying
machine, in hopes Glenn might carry it with him on his nine-day mission.
Glenn says it's entirely possible since each astronaut is allowed
to take along a small container of personal items.
