LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- To some, it's a joke. For others, it's an ugly scar that divides the city. A lot of people don't even know it exists.
But the Los Angeles River provides a habitat for more than 150 species of birds and other wildlife, even though its banks are made of concrete and much of its water comes from wastewater plants.
Now a campaign is on to revive a body of water that many regard as a lost cause. Jim Hill has the story.
