June 17, 1998
Web posted at: 11:45 p.m. EDT (0345 GMT)

MORETON ISLAND, Australia (CNN) -- Dozens of sharks converged for a feeding frenzy in the shallow waters off Moreton Island, clearing the beaches of people. The sharks churned the waters as they fed on pilchards, a type of fish that spawns in the warm coastal waters every year. Moreton Island is just off the Queensland capital of Brisbane.
