From... A cradle for your mouse
November 23, 1999 by Steve Bass (IDG) -- If you use a computer, it's a sure bet you use a mouse. And I'll lay odds that your arm, wrist, and shoulder are sore after a day of reaching across the desk for the mouse. Here's an idea: Instead of reaching for the heating pad, attach a $40 Compupad to your chair's armrest. The gadget is both an arm support and mouse platform. One end of the device supports your arm with a sturdy, contoured rest area while the other end provides a platform for you to roll your mouse around.
The mouse platform has a flange that extends around three sides to keep the mouse from sliding off. The tray also adjusts up and down--ideal for getting the ergonomic angle just right. With the mouse in easy reach, your posture and hand position become more natural, decreasing fatigue and reducing the chances of developing repetitive stress injuries, according to the company that makes the Compupad. The Compupad fits easily on almost any kind of armchair--one Comdex attendee instantly attached it to his wheelchair.
