DETROIT (CNN) -- If you're weary of all the hand wringing over the Y2K bug, consider this Michigan man who says he lost his job because he foresaw the problem in 1974 and wasn't believed.

If people had taken his advice to heart, maybe the world could breathe easier awaiting the approaching New Year.
