(IDG) -- PC chips just keep getting faster, and the release of systems to show them off is accelerating as well.

Midwest Micro and Dell are releasing budget Intel Celeron-500 systems this week, and PC World's PC WorldBench results attest to their speed.

The two systems consistently beat out PCs containing their sibling chip, the Celeron-433, but AMD's KIII-450 comes close to the new Celerons in PC WorldBench races.

Midwest Micro's 500-MHz Celeron-powered MWO-500C earned a PC WorldBench score of 204, while the Dell unit posted a 214. A similarly configured Polywell Poly K6-III earned a 217 WorldBench score, not a significant lead. A similarly configured Celeron-433 Gateway E1200 posted a 199.
