WASHINGTON
(CNNfn) -- The Justice Department and Microsoft Corp. squared off Monday
in their highly anticipated antitrust case, with prosecutors using Chairman
Bill Gates' own videotaped testimony in their opening arguments.
Justice Department attorney David Boies kicked off the landmark proceedings
at 10 a.m. ET, arguing the software titan tried to coerce Netscape Communications
Corp. to join its efforts to expand market share for Microsoft's Internet
browsing software, or else face the consequences.
