ALTech, Leading Speech Recognition Company, Adds Vice President of Corporate Partnerships - R. Todd Barber

BOSTON, June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Applied Language Technologies, Inc. (ALTech), the leading provider of conversational speech recognition technology and products for over-the-telephone, customer service solutions, announced today that R. Todd Barber has joined the Company as Vice President, Corporate Partnerships. In this new role, Mr. Barber will be responsible for managing the Company's existing partner relations and establishing new distribution channels for SpeechWorks(TM), ALTech's speech recognition solution. He also will be developing the product direction and sales strategy for SpeechWorks in the telecommunications industry.

Mr. Barber joins ALTech from Stratus Computers where he was a Director of Telecom Sales, responsible for over $50M in sales to several of Stratus' key telecommunications accounts, including OEMs, VARs and end users. Prior to working at Stratus, Mr. Barber was Vice President of Sales at Vicorp, a telecommunications software company. Previously, he was Director of Advanced Speech Products at Volt Delta Resources. He also worked five years at Frontier Communications in Rochester, New York in various product and market development positions. Mr. Barber holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from the University of Rochester.

Company Growth Continues

During the past five months, ALTech has added 20 new employees and contractors to its staff, representing an increase of 48%. The new employees have filled positions in all areas of the corporation from linguistics and human factors design to marketing and sales. To support this growth, ALTech will be doubling its office space in its present location this month.
