Mir Repair Spacewalk Archive
The Mir crew began a series of spacewalks in August to repair damage to the ailing Spektr module and restore power to the Russian space station. By November the space staion was well on its way to recovering from the June 25 accident in which a cargo supply ship crashed into Mir. The immediate goal of the spacewalks is to extend the life of the 11-year-old space station until parts of the International Space Station are in place.
