(CNN) -- The waiting and guessing games for Myst junkies is
over.
Myst, the adventure game that has mesmerized millions with
its spellbinding conundrums, intense non-linear plot and
surreal graphics, is coming out with a sequel.
The new version, to be called Riven, is due in stores during
the summer of 1997, though its creators have kept the exact
launch date under tight wraps. Both Mac and PC versions will
reportedly be released at the same time.

Riven has a lot to live up to. Myst is the world's most
popular CD-ROM game, with more than 3 million copies sold.
It's a game unlike most others -- no vicious slayings or
random violence. No one keeps score, and only exploration
leads to answers.
Myst (short for Mystery) was introduced in September 1993 by
co-creators and brothers, Robyn and Rand Miller, of Cyan, a
small software company in Spokane, Washington.
Since Myst's release, books and Web sites have been dedicated
to the game -- even talk of a Myst movie are circulating.
Myst junkies have craved more.
The sequel promises to be better than the original -- clearer
pictures, more interaction with characters and tougher
puzzles.
"We have puzzles that we hope are more taxing than the first
one, said Richard Vanervende, Riven co-director.
