ATLANTA (CNN) -- Wondering when Riverdance is coming to your
town? Or maybe you'd like to learn the steps to the
Macarena? It's all as close as your PC.
The ballet's the thing
The American Ballet Theatre Internet site tells
all about the classical dance company -- from biographies of
the dancers, to information on composers, to a look at the
history of the company.
Also on site are synopses of current ballets, performance
dates around the company, and a very nice photo gallery with
images of dancers in a variety of roles.
Irish jigs and reels
Irish dance is in the middle of a new explosion of
popularity, thanks in part to the traveling show Riverdance.
The show's Web site gives the schedule
for performances in the United States, the United Kingdom and
Australia.
The site explores the Riverdance phenomenon and the people
behind it and includes downloadable video clips.
Macarena: the dance and the spin-offs
Of course, no medium of popular culture would be complete
without the Macarena. There is one site devoted to the
craze, and so many tidbits all over the Web it
would be impossible to list them here.
But on the main site, there's virtual Macarena lessons from a
variety of computerized figures.
But if you'd rather eat than dance, try the "Hey Macaroni" screensaver
with lyrics like "People say I'm better than a bowl of fried
bologna."
