CompuServe has entered into an agreement with Netscape Communications.
The deal will allow CompuServe to distribute the Netscape Navigator World Wide Web browser to CompuServe users and to its Internet access service, Sprynet.
Netscape will use CompuServe as its exclusive Internet access provider outside the United States.
Apple to shut down on-line service
Apple Computer has confirmed it will shut down its eWorld on-line service at the end of the month.
eWorld subscribers will be able to switch over to America Online if they like, with electronic "transition forms".
Singapore to regulate Internet
Singapore has ordered Internet access providers to restrict material on sex, religion and politics. And libraries, schools and cafes that offer Internet access must supervise how it is used.
California's schools get 'wired' on NetDay '96
More than 15,000 volunteers are meeting President Clinton's challenge to connect classrooms to the Internet.
California's "NetDay '96" is combining the efforts of parents, teachers and engineers from high-tech companies to install network wiring to schools across the state.
Tech winners grab 'Codies' at award ceremony
It's to the software industry what the Oscars are to Hollywood.
This year's "Codie" Excellence in Software awards were handed out by the Software Publishers Association.
The big winners included Netscape, which won multiple awards for its Web browser. Indycar Racing Two was voted the best sports software. And the CD-ROM "Passage to Vietnam" was judged the best overall multimedia production.
