Yahoo appeals to kids with new Web site

Yahoo, the popular Internet directory, has unveiled a site designed just for kids 8 to 14 years old.

It's called Yahooligans and offers all the features of the grown-up version.

There are convenient, easy-to-search categories of sites that will appeal to youngsters.

See the best in children's on-line entertainment or find answers to difficult homework assignments.

White House vies for young visitors on-line

With Yahooligans, you're just a click away from new and cool sites. One example -- a virtual White House tour from the nation's first cat, Socks.

You can learn all about the history of the president's house, and the first families who have lived there. You can even take a look at other presidential pets -- including Caroline Kennedy's pony, the Harrison family's goat, or Franklin D. Roosevelt's dog, Fala.

There's an e-mail page that lets you write Socks a short note or even drop a few lines to the president, vice-president or first lady.
