Ken Manford and Jeffrey Roach, a couple for 17 years, adopted a baby boy, Jackson, from Guatemala more than five years ago. Though the family is nontraditional in that Jackson has two fathers, their existence in Roswell, Georgia -- a place they describe as upper middle-class and liberal -- has all the trappings of everyday America. There are the rigors of school and daycare, birthday parties to host, parks to run around in and the zoo to visit. But, every now and then, there is a reminder that their family is a bit different. For example, what to do on Mother's Day?
The family spoke to CNN's Taylor Gandossy about their journey, from deciding on adopting a child to building a home and enduring the sometimes amusing, sometimes troubling experiences their lives present.
