'Blade Runner' | 1982
The cars of Los Angeles, California, in 2019 as seen in Ridley Scott’s film “Blade Runner” look like a hybrid of a DeLorean and a compact space shuttle. They combine the boxy chassis and gull-wing doors of the DeLorean with the vertical takeoff and captain’s controls of NASA spacecraft. As a cop named Gaff, Edward James Almos wears an antiquated, leather, pullover-style pilot's helmet while flying. Along for the ride, fellow officer Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) proves the helmets aren't required, as he finishes off a bowl of noodles rather than don protective headgear.
