West Nile entrenched in U.S.

The summer of 2003 proved that the West Nile virus is firmly rooted in the United States. Although the number of human deaths was less than last year, the total case count more than doubled to almost 8,600. And the virus is spreading quickly: Just five years after first detected in New York, West Nile is now in almost every state.
