Iraqi FM: Troops should stay
Coalition troops need to remain in Iraq after power is handed over at the end of this month -- but the nation's new leadership must be consulted about major military operations, said Iraq's foreign minister. Hoshyar Zebari, in a visit to the U.N. Security Council, also said the Iraq government should have a say in when coalition troops will leave, warning that a premature exit may have catastrophis consequences.

A new democratic Iraqi government has been taking shape since coalition forces overthrew Saddam Hussein last spring. The next key date is the June 30 transfer of sovereignty, then elections early in 2005 -- if security concerns do not derail the process.
