• Diwaniyah firefight: Irregular Iraqi forces, some wearing women's clothing, ambushed a U.S. Marine platoon Monday in Diwaniyah, but the U.S. unit escaped without casualties, Marines said.

• Journalists killed: Spanish journalist Julio Anguita Parrado was killed Monday in an Iraqi missile attack while traveling with the U.S. Army 3rd Infantry Division, his newspaper, El Mundo, announced. The attack also killed two soldiers and one other journalist -- identified by El Mundo as German photographer Christian Liebig -- and wounded 15 soldiers, some seriously. Full Story
