The future of Napster is once again in doubt. A federal judge has ordered the online music file-sharing service to block access to copyrighted material in its vast archive, using lists of songs provided by the large recording companies that sued Napster for copyright infringement. But whether or not Napster's archive of downloadable MP3's will fade into history, the debate over peer-to-peer networking programs like Napster is far from over. While supporters of Napster and similar programs maintain that they are simply sharing personal files, many of the copyright owners strongly believe that "sharing" these files via Napster is "stealing" by another name.
